Angel Food Ministries, founded by Joe & Linda Wingo, is a Christian, non-profit organization dedicated to providing grocery relief and financial support to communities throughout the United States. Angel Food had humble beginnings in Monroe, GA in 1994, serving 34 families from the Wingo’s front porch. Today, God has multiplied this outreach effort, providing a quality, low cost grocery supplement to over 500,000 families across 29 states. In 2006, Angel Food Ministries reported feeding over 1.6 million people.
Living Faith Outreach has been designated as the host site for the Galveston County area. Other churches in this area, join us in accomplishing feeding hundreds of people, right here in Galveston County monthly.
- This ministry gives church members “hands-on” experience through service to others by volunteering on distribution day one Saturday each month.
- This is an effective outreach to the community, giving you the opportunity to meet the physical and financial needs of people.
- While you are meeting the physical and financial needs of your community, it opens the door to meet their spiritual needs as well.
- Angel Food Ministries sells their groceries for $31.00 per box {$1.00 per box is added to cover the cost of the boxes, we pre-package}. This is a savings of at least half of what you would pay if you purchased these same items at your local grocery store. Over the past several months, we have priced the items at one of our local, major food chains and found that we would have paid over $55, and for one of the months it was over $60, if we had purchased the food there.
- Each month, a new menu is offered, consisting of both fresh and frozen items, including fresh meats, vegetables, and eggs. (Sample menu enclosed)
- The host church collects orders and payments during the first part of each month. These orders are turned into the corporate office on a pre-determined date each month.
- On a Saturday at the end of each month, the food is delivered to Living Faith Outreach in bulk via a refrigerated semi-truck. Representatives from your church will pick up the food and take it back to your church for distribution.
- One box of food will assist in feeding a family of 4 for approximately one week, or a single adult or senior citizen for a month.
- The food is not outdated or damaged. This is quality product provided by the same distributors that supply our local grocery chains.
- There are no limits to the number of boxes an individual can purchase. There are no applications or qualification, so everyone can participate in the program.
- Individuals or organizations may purchase boxes of food to donate to someone in need.
